Marianne is 52 years old, and everything seems to suggest that her role in the family is already written: the perfect little housewife. Yet a simple cake to decorate could awaken emotions within her that she never even knew existed. In the short film La cerise, I wanted to embody women’s anger—the burning urge to throw everything away sometimes—through Marianne’s deliberately caricatured family. Satirical and exasperating in tone, the film builds in intensity as the character is pushed to her breaking point.

My name is Coline Verna-Loupiac, and I am in my first year of a Master’s degree in Fiction & Documentary. From a very young age, the camera has been my closest ally in telling stories. Today and for the rest of my life, I want to keep telling them by making films.
